Timberglow PU40 Clear
PU 40 is a hybrid urethane acrylic water-based clear finish.
Designed to be extremely hard wearing durable and resistant
to many common chemicals and solvents.
The product is based on a very small particle sized high strength urethane and acrylic polymers, formulated to develop
excellent hardness and flexibility.
It demonstrates good penetration into porous surfaces and excellent adhesion properties.
It may be applied by spray roller or brush.
It is an ideal coating for timber in interior and exterior use and my be used as a glaze coat over various substrates where extra hardness,
block resistance and durability are required.
The surface must be free of dust, dirt grease and any other contamination. Generally, washing with a mild sugar soap solution in warm water
cleans sufficiently. The surface must be dry when coated and free of peeling and flaking paint. Any suspect previously painted surface must be tested to
ensure a satisfactory bond exists between the paint and the substrate.
Degraded timber surfaces ie. those that have bleached in the sun should be sanded or planed back to sound material.
Any cracks, gouges holes or other imperfections in the surface should be filled with suitable grouting compound sanded flush with the surface when dry
and patch primed prior to applying the first coat of Timber Paint.
The product may be applied by spray roller or brush.
Ensure that only thin coats are applied, and no product is left to pond on the surface.
If rolling, the coat should be "laid-off" by brush to ensure no foaming remains in the film.
A minimum of two coats is essential, and preferably three or four, to ensure that no parts are left uncoated.
The coating dries quickly, and recoating can be carried out within half an hour of the previous application in the right circumstances.
Wrap applicators in plastic film between coats and ensure no re-useable equipment is allowed to dry out to avoid hardening and drying
Recoating may be carried out after a minimum of 45 minutes and no more than 24hours.
After this time the pprevious coat should be lightly sanded before recoating.
Typically PU 40 covers between 12 - 20 m2/Litre per coat depending on the surface being coated and the presence or absence of previous coating.
The product is touch dry in 30 minutes and hard dry after 1 hour
Available in;
10, 4, and 1, Litre. Larger sizes available on request.
Do not apply when temperature is below 10o C or with rain, or high humidity imminent.
Do not apply if surface temperature is above 40o C.
Take especial care to clean down the surface prior to
coating
