TIMBERGLOW XUV
XUV is ideal for exterior and interior timber, e.g. Timber Linings,
timber furniture, trim, doors, frames and other uses where matching surfaces close on each other.
The product is practically water clear and imparts little colour change or loss of definition of grain characteristics of timber. Not for use in direct exposure to sun light.
The superior waterproofing of the material, provide a durable and long lasting finish.
The product is medium hard and forgiving of some movement of timber coated with it .
XUV is a transparent water based coating, based on acrylic urethane blended binders.
It is formulated to level and flow well and give medium exterior durability as a clear, un-pigmented coating in shaded areas.
APPLICATION
The ideal system comprises, one coat of Huecoat Timber Seal followed by minimum Two to Three coats of XUV finish coat, with light sanding between coats.
The first application (primer) on sawn Western Red cedar and similar rough timbers may be thinned with water to a suitable
degree to allow ease of application on the porous timber.
For use on fine grained dressed timbers, thinning should be to a maximum of 10% if required.
The first and second coats of top coat material may be applied without thinning although if thinning is required use clean potable water, up to a maximum of 10%.
Do not apply thickly, nor overwork and use a good quality paint brush, roller or spray. Quickly lay off to a thin uniform coat, especially when using roller application.
Ensure that no thick patches, bubbles or runs of material are left behind, as these may dry to an unsightly appearance
Transparent coatings are generally less forgiving of poor application than opaque paints
The product is designed to spread well and excellent coverage rates are achievable but being an exterior product, too little coating thickness can result in poor performance.
For good protection be sure to finish with no less than a combined total amounting to 8 m2/L, and always bear in mind
that several thin coats are preferably to fewer thick coats.
COVERAGE
Depending on porosity of timber the following can be considered as guides:-
Dressed hardwoods:
Primer (Timber Seal) 10 - 16m /Litre
Top coat 10 - 16m /Litre
Sawn timber:
Primer 6 - 14 m /Litre
Top coat 8 - 12 m /Litre
Drying Time
Touch dry within half hour, recoat no less than two hours
depending on temperature and other weather conditions.
Cleanup
Clean all equipment with water immediately after use to prevent solidification of material particularly in application equipment.
