Timberglow Pro Deck
Timber Glow Pro Deck.
Is a superior coating harder than Timber Glow and more flexible than XUV.
This blend is ideal for decking application, it is a semi-transparent water based coating, based on acrylic urethane blended binders.
It is formulated to level and flow well and give exterior durability as a clear, part-pigmented U.V. inhibiting coating.
It is designed for Exterior use and is ideal for exterior timber, e.g .Decks, timber furniture, trims, doors and frames.
The product imparts little colour change or loss of definition in timber grain characteristics.
The superior waterproofing and UV resistant characteristics of the material provide a highly durable and long lasting finish.
The product is somewhat harder than Timber Glow, but it allows for movement of the timber.
SURFACE PREPERATION
Timber should be clean and the surface dry; any stains, stencils or other marks should be removed as these would otherwise be "locked in" under the transparent coating finish.
Timber which has been previously oiled with linseed should either be allowed to age prior to the the application, or be
thoroughly washed with organic solvent to ensure proper bonding.
APPLICATION
The ideal system comprises, one coat of Huecoat Timber Seal to fully seal the timber surface, followed by three more coats of Timber Glow Pro Deck finish coat.
The first application (primer) on rough sawn Western Red cedar and similar rough timbers may be thinned with water to a suitable degree to allow ease of application on the porous timber.
For use on fine grained dressed timbers, thinning should be to a maximum of 10% as required.
The first and second coats of top coat material may be applied without thinning although some thinning is generally desirable using clean potable water, up to a maximum of 10%.
Do not apply too thickly, nor overwork and use a good quality Lambs wool Pad, paint brush,
Quickly lay off to a uniform coat, especially when using roller application.
Ensure that no thick patches, bubbles or runs of material are left behind, as these may dry to an unsightly appearance.
Always maintain a “wet edge” to your work especially on decks by coating the full length of 1 or more boards at a time.
Under no circumstances allow the coating to dry along the length of boards as an unsightly overlap will occur when you re-start.
For good protection be sure to finish with no less than 3 coats, and always bear in mind that several thin coats are preferably to fewer thick coats.
COVERAGE
Depending on porosity of timber the following can be considered as guides:-
Dressed hardwoods:
Primer (Timber Seal) 10 - 16m2 /Litre
Top coat 10 - 16m2 /Litre
Sawn timber:
Primer 6 - 14 m2 /Litre
Top coat 8 - 12 m2 /Litre
Drying Time
